Hydroxyethyl methacrylate HEMA-JINDUN CHEMICAL

Hydroxyethyl methacrylate

Hydroxyethyl methacrylate is obtained by the reaction between ethylene oxide and methacrylic acid, often abbreviated as HEMA, and is used in the plastics industry to manufacture acrylic tree esters containing active hydroxyl groups.

Chinese name: Hydroxyethyl methacrylate
English Name: Hydroxyethyl methacrylate
Alias: 2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA)
Chemical formula: CH2=CCH3COOCH2CH2OH
Molecular weight: 130.14
Physical and chemical properties

Colorless transparent and easy flowing liquid. Soluble in common organic solvents. Miscible with water.

Use

1、Mainly used in the modification of resin and coating. Copolymerization with other acrylic monomers can produce acrylic resins with active hydroxyl groups in the side chain, esterification and cross-linking reactions can be carried out to synthesize insoluble resins and improve adhesive properties, and can be used as fiber treatment agents. It is used to make two-component coatings by reacting with melamine melamine-formaldehyde (or urea-formaldehyde) resin and epoxy resin. It can be added to high-grade car paints to maintain mirror gloss for a long time. It is also used as an adhesive for synthetic textiles and as a medical polymer monomer, etc. Formaldehyde (or urea-formaldehyde) resin and epoxy resin react together to produce two-component coatings. It can be added to high-grade car paint to maintain mirror gloss for a long time. It can also be used as adhesive of synthetic textile and medical polymer monomer, etc.

2、Used in the production of coatings, automotive topcoat and primer resin, also can be applied to photopolymerization resin, printing board, ink, gel (contact lenses) and listening material coatings, etc. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and optical microscope (LM) embedding reagent, especially for "sensitive antigenic sites" of hydrated samples. White watery, viscous, thinner than water, and more permeable than any resin or monomer. Especially used for working on bones, cartilage and difficult to penetrate plant tissues.

3、Plastics industry is used to manufacture acrylic resin with active hydroxyl group. Coating industry and epoxy resin, diisocyanate, melamine formaldehyde resin and other configurations for the production of two-component coatings. The oil and grease industry is used as an additive for lubricating oil washing. The electronics industry is used as the de-watering of electron microscope. Textile industry is used to manufacture adhesive for fabric. Used as chemical reagent in analytical chemistry. In addition, it is also used as an embedding agent for water miscibility, for the synthesis of medical polymer materials, thermosetting coatings and adhesives, etc.

Production method

Add ferric thiocyanate, tetramethylammonium chloride and a little hydroquinone to methacrylic acid, stirring and heating to 90°C. Under the protection of nitrogen, pass ethylene oxide gas and react for about 2h. Cool the reaction product to 60°C, add a little hydroquinone and distill under reduced pressure, collect the fraction at 86-89°C (0.67kPa) to get the finished product, the yield is more than 80%. 2. Potassium salt of methacrylic acid and chloroethanol in the The reaction of potassium salt of methacrylic acid and chloroethanol in the presence of a polymerization inhibitor produces crude 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, which is refined and refined by salting.
